We
do not sit still for long. Perhaps that is the city dwelling that has crept
into our veins. We had been back from
Ireland for a total of exactly two weeks when the mister got word he needed to
travel to his company’s New York office.
What with it being summer, and being freshly laid off- I was game!
Mister booked his flight, and an additional seat for me and I tagged along on
his ‘work trip’ to NYC. Knowing I would be on my own most of the trip (as He would start work
early and end each day with dinner/drinks/golfing shenanigans with his
co-workers),
I made a list and was determined to fill my days and nights with as much New
York sight seeing as one girl can do. See list…
Now, note this was only my second time
in NYC, so my list is pretty amateur- and I meant to write wonder instead of
wander because I love just marveling in new places and wondering what has
happened there throughout it’s existence.
ü So
yep, wondered throughout a chunk of Central Park.
ü Totally
acted like I owned the place as I strolled into the Plaza Hotel…
turns out you cannot go into the actual lobby unless you are a registered
guest. I’m not a high roller so, I placed my tail between my legs and walked
through the public parts of the Plaza. Found an Eloise at the Plaza gift
shop!!!! You know you know that book. And I purchased it, for a ridiculous
price. Next time, Amazon will work just fine.
ü Totally
walked into Dylan’s Candy Bar, sniffed the cotton candy scent they are piping
through the air, and purchased extremely overprice chocolate covered gummy
bears and rainbow nonpareils. Judge away…
Literally four doors down was Serendipity, so of course I went to check it out. It left little to desire. Maybe I just need to give it another try. On another trip to NYC. Okay, you talked me into it!
ü Ate
at Chobani TWICE. Hence the reason it is in white text and large. It’s SO,
FREAKING. GOOD. Only one in the world though, so get off the computer and book
a flight to NYC.
ü Ok,
so we didn’t exactly eat NYC pizza, but we did eat “Brooklyn’s Best Pizza” at
Grimaldi’s Pizzeria. Definitely worth the travel over to Brooklyn and the
hour-long line we stood in. In the rain. But we had an awesome view of the Brooklyn Bridge:
ü I
SAW LIVE WITH KELLY AND MICHAEL!!!!! I waited an extreme amount of time (one
would probably call this a waste of time. Not this girl.)
but I got in, saw Kelly and Michael, and their guest, a little friend I call
DENZEL WASHINGTON!
Feast your eyes on this:
ü Did
not get to culture myself at the MoMA, but next time, for sure next time.
ü We
wanted to go to the Brooklyn Brewery, but didn’t make it, so we ordered a
Brooklyn Lager to go with our pizza at Grimaldi’s and we talked. So, I call
that a win.
ü We
stayed at the Westin in Times Square, so I avoided Times Square as much as I
could, aside from sleeping there and walking through it each day. Times Square:
1 Me: 0
ü First
day there was really the best day there. That day, we landed and hit the ground
running before Mister had to work on Monday. We walked the entire length of the
high line and throughout Chelsea and made it into Chelsea Market.
OH, OH - AND, I got to go to Peanut Butter and Company. If you have not tried the White Chocolate Wonderful, you are missing out! You can get it anywhere, even my favorite, Target!
So pretty much all I wanted to say was
this: I love cities, especially new places to explore. I love New York City (in
small doses),
and for right now, in this current time in my life…
I love city life.
